Rates/Packages

The Arcalus consulting rate is $100/hour.

In addition to working hourly or on contract, Arcalus offers a few basic consulting packages designed to help new clients find value quickly.

Dive in the Archive                     $250

Spend three hours in the Arcalus Archive exploring the topic (or topics) of your choice. Complete a brief questionnaire before you arrive and Bo will have a stack of relevant material pre-selected for your visit. Let these volumes start your journey through the shelves, with Bo as your guide for insight, context, and inspirational discoveries.

Portland House History              $525

This unique Arcalus service starts with a visit to your home followed by research in various references and records. Results vary by home, but may include a summary of your home’s period style and historical context, identification of key original features (and later additions), visual documentation from insurance maps and plat books, and names of previous owners. These are compiled in a book form that you can continue to add to as you learn more.

Old-House Consult I                   $275

The most basic Arcalus house consult consists of a brief questionnaire followed by a visit to your home. There, Bo will provide an on-site assessment of your house’s style and integrity, pointing out significant features, original and altered details, and places where small changes can have a large impact. Based on your areas of interest, Bo will bring along original materials from the archive to enrich and inform your conversation.

Old-House Consult II                 $525

This package begins with the Consult I package. Bo then takes the information gathered back to the archive for additional research and documentation. A written assessment is prepared that includes a summary of your home’s style and details. Then a series of unique images relating to your house or project are personally selected from the materials in the library and delivered in a follow-up meeting.

Old-House Consult III                $775

All the features of Consult II, with an additional three hours of dedicated research and creative problem solving aimed at bringing high-value solutions to the design challenges at hand.

Old-House Consult IV              $1050

This package is intended for homeowners seeking period-informed ideas and insights early in the creative process. Bo will provide all of the services outlined in the Consult III package, with a bonus. Based on your design goals and style tastes, Bo will put together a customized “look book” of actual period interiors and catalog images drawn from the archive to excite, encourage, and inspire you. Arcalus is also available for presentations, classes, trainings, or continuing education programs on a wide variety of topics.
